Hi there! I'm Marjorie "Jorie" Stump, a 19 year old Lexington native and sophomore vocal performance major at Baldwin-Wallace college conservatory in Berea, Ohio. I have a long-standing interest in indie and alternative music; my favorite artists vary constantly, but some that I have been listening to lately are Cate Le Bon, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, CocoRosie, and Man Man (whose show I particularly enjoyed early this summer). I also am interested in popular music from around the world. Right now, I am on a Balkan gypsy music kick (I'm obsessed with Esma Redzepova!), but I have also been known to listen extensively to Greek Rembetika (Rosa Eshkenazi and Marika Papagika come to mind), Algerian and Moroccan Rai (Cheb Mami, Cheb Khaled, Faudel....), and, my girly favorite, music from various Bollywood films.
I have so far been unable to find a paying job in Lexington this summer, so my hours of availability are wide open for the summer. As a musician myself, I believe it is important to expose listeners to the endless possibilities of music in order to make the world a more open minded and giving place.
