Profile
My name is Ebiye Austin Omosivwe (for brevity purpose,I can be called Ebi - pronounced AB, i.e. the first two alphabets). I am a Nigerian by birth, but a legal Permanent Resident of the United States. I am currently in the Electrical Engineering Masters Program, and majoring in Systems Control.
On several occassions, after introducing myself to folks here in the U.S - and because I realize not everyone is Geography savvy - naturally, a follow-up question I usually entertain is "what country is Nigeria, and where is it at"? To demystify that, let me take a few lines to be upfront and clear any curiosity on this issue. Nigeria is in West Africa. The official language is English Language. This is because she used to be a former British Colony, and attained independence from Britain in 1960. There are about 250 other sub-dialects. She has about 160 million people, making her the most populated black nation in the world. She is the 8th largest Oil / Petroleum producer and exporter in the world, and as a result well reknown American companies like Exxonmobil, Chevron, British Shell, as well as companies from other parts of the world do business there. This provides her citizenry (I am one) the opportunity of socializing and working with folks from around the world. She shares and maintains a very strong alliance with the United States.
I love to volunteer and serve people in my immediate community, and broadcasting is one of several ways I enthusiastically love to achieve this quest. During my Bachelors Degree studies in Nigeria (1994-1999), I was very active in the University-run Radio Station. Apart from this, I am a lover of diverse genres of music. But I am principally focused, proficient, and well versed in Reggae Music (Afro-Carribean Music). I also collect music, and maintain an enviable Reggae music library that has songs, Albums, Artists, documentaries and interviews spanning from the 1960s till as recent as last month Sept. 2008. By this I mean Reggae music prior to, after, and beyond the influence of Internationally recognized superstar, late Robert Nesta (Bob) Marley (1945 -1981). My musical library is a well reserached one that accounts for Artist biographies as well as discographies and more. I also listen to Country music, Rock, Jazz, Soul. I like The Beatles, Elvis presley, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Dwight Yoakam, Shania Twain, Kenny Chesney and a host of others too numerous to mention here. I also love and appreciate poetry.
An opportunity to be trained as a DJ at WRFL 88.1 FM will be a dream come true. Thank you for this rare opportunity and priviledge to express myself.
Very sincerely yours, Ebiye Austin Omosivwe.
