My sister was a teen of the 80's so naturally we danced to many a record. She in her one shouldered neon tanks, me with my mushroom haircut, dancing the evening away to Prince, The Eurythmics, Huey Lewis, Tina Turner, and Springsteen. The musical journey began there, twisted through mom's 8 tracks of the Stones and Hank Williams and Dolly Parton only to discover the Thistle and Shamrock on NPR in 8th grade. Celtic music you captivated my soul! On to electronica and hardcore in undergraduate days, bossa nova after that trip to Sausalito, CA and meandering into the indie musical renaissance of my late 20's spurred on by the now defunct Dame. (RIP, Dame, RIP.)

That brings me up to now- where anything goes. I pretty much love it all and depending on the mood, most any song could be the soundtrack to my day.

I saw you walking on campus the other day, headphones sealing in your soundscape, walking to the beat of your own soundtrack. You looked like a badass. I saw you and thought, kindred soul.
